We would like to share an example experienced too often – a motorist having to deal with towing and storage fees never foreseen!
Email Received:
“My brother in law’ son was involved in accident on the FRIDAY 30 November 2018 and was taken to hospital and passed on the next day. The accident was only reported to the family in the early morning hours of Sunday by police but they were without sufficient information and we were instructed to go to the hospital for more details, we went and identified the deceased and we tried to establish the reasons for the deceased to end up in hospital but of no luck, no contact details of the police station, no registration number of an ambulance or EMS report in the hospital file, no accident report number and we run all over different police station trying to establish what happened and only today 04th December 2018 at one of the police station in town where the accident was reported and they [police] gave address of the person who towed the vehicle and when the family get there, the was there and now they must pay R4.500 FOR TOWING AND STORAGE. The family does not have that amount they must arrange a funeral on the hand. Please assist us in this regard”

Mr … please could you provide more information, wrt the SAPS Station, the location of crash, date, Tow Company name and details, so we can investigate and do our utmost best to assist you? Should you have any documentation such as a Tow Authorization Document, Invoice, please forward too.
