A Toyota Quantum 2.5 D4D Sesfikile that was hijacked in Ntuzuma, KZN was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Mthembeni, Ndwedwe this morning (Saturday).
RUSA was contacted by Tracker at approximately 06:26 requesting assistance to locate the mini bus that sent out an alert after it travelled to an area outside of its usual route. While Reaction Officers were on route to Oakford in Verulam where the last signal was received, Tracker confirmed that the taxi was hijacked.
RUSA received continuous updates from the vehicle’s tracking device while it travelled in the direction of Ndwedwe. The sought after vehicle was spotted on an unpaved road as Reaction Officers neared the last co-ordinates.
Both suspects alighted from the vehicle and fled through an informal settlement. An extensive search was conducted however they still remain at large. An inspection of the hijacked vehicle confirmed that the vehicle was in the process of being stripped.
The rear seats were stolen and several panels inside the taxi were removed.
