I had my driving licence card stolen abroad. How do I replace it?

Question:

Wondering whether you could advise accordingly with regards to the following issue.

I had my driving licence stolen and can’t fly back to South Africa to renew it. I also can’t apply for an American license without a physical copy and valid license on hand. How can I acquire a new license from abroad? Currently living in the USA

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
