On Monday, 24 July 2017, Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Trio Crime Unit together with Chatsworth Task Team apprehended three suspects in the Shallcross area, after the suspects were found in possession of two remote jamming devices.
Members successfully nabbed the three suspects aged between 20 and 40, after observing the suspects in the parking lot behind Jamaica Motors in Shallcross Centre, the suspect’s vehicle, with the number plate identified as ‘NPN 94095’ was also wanted for various crimes in the Durban area. The suspects were charged for attempted theft out of motor vehicle and will appear in Chatsworth Magistrates’ Court in due time.
Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Trio Crime Unit commander Captain Matthee urges the community to be aware of their surroundings and avoid going to shopping centres with valuables in the vehicle. “If you spot anybody behaving suspiciously, report it to the SAPS immediately,” he said.
Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Commander, commended members for their excellent work in arresting the suspects linked to theft out of motor vehicles in the area. “Our members will be working around the clock to link the suspects to different cases in the area as well as link them to other suspects involved in remote jamming in the Ethekwini area,” he said.
