Tracker Awards 2019 held in Kimberley in the Northern Cape

On 19 September 2019 the annual Tracker Awards was held at the Kalahari Lodge in Kimberley. This is a very prestigious event and this year Sergeant Lucas Jacobs from Kimberley Flying Squad was chosen as the best individual performer while Kimberley Flying Squad walked away with the best unit award during the Northern Cape Tracker Awards ceremony.

There was also ten other Northern Cape SAPS members awarded for outstanding performance and four units were recognised for going the extra mile in the fight against vehicle theft in the province. Most of this years’ winners came from SAPS Vehicle Crime Investigation, Flying Squad, K9, High-Way Patrol and Crime Prevention units.

Mr Ron Knott-Craig was speaking on behalf of Tracker and commended the SAPS for the excellent service they are currently rendering. He also alluded to the attendees that more than 95 000 vehicles were recovered since the inception of this partnership in 1997. The Northern Cape has a 100% recovery rate on stolen vehicles and this formidable partnership has been growing in leaps and bounds.

The SAPS Cluster Commander for the John Taolo Gaetsewe area, Major General Johan Bean was over the moon about what Tracker and SAPS conquered over the past two decades. This truly portrays that partnership policing works or the reduction of crime, crime prevention and the recovery of stolen vehicles.
