An armed hijacking occurred on Swanfern Road in Phoenix on Tuesday evening. KZN VIP Emergency Teams were dispatched following multiple distress calls from residents requesting urgent assistance.

Upon arrival, it was established that between four to five armed African male suspects arrived in a vehicle (unconfirmed at this stage) and hijacked a visitor, stealing his white VW Polo before fleeing the scene.

KZN VIP worked closely with the victim and swiftly activated the vehicle’s tracking device, prompting an immediate tactical response. The vehicle was tracked to KwaMashu, J Section.

Tracking agents, together with KZN VIP teams, arrived on scene and successfully located the stolen vehicle while it was in the process of being stripped. The suspects managed to evade arrest and fled the area following the recovery.

KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services assessed the victims on scene. While no visible injuries were sustained, the victims were found to be severely traumatised.

Well done to all emergency services, tracking agents, and SAPS members who responded swiftly and professionally.
