Can I use my Foreign Driving Licence when returning and driving in South Africa?

Question:

I am currently working abroad and will return to SA in August. Unfortunately, my SA drivers license expires in July and I want to rent a car whilst in SA.
Will I be able to rent a car using my foreign drivers’ license accompanied with an International Drivers license?

Answer:

South Africans who holds a foreign licence they obtained while out of the country for more than 3 months are allowed to use the foreign licence to drive in SA if the  licence contains a photo and signature and is still valid in country of issue. It must be in an official SAlanguage or a translation must
