In July 2020, Namola introduced new app features for families and friends to share their journeys and get emergency assistance for their loved ones, as well as themselves, should they need it.
“We live in a country where we all worry about the safety of our friends and families,” says Craig Rivett, founder of Namola. “This update to Namola is designed to make it easy to know if your teenage daughter has arrived at her friend’s house safely and, if necessary, request emergency assistance on her behalf”.
In the first 5 weeks since Family Sharing was introduced to the app, over 13,1 million kilometres of individual journeys have been safely shared via the Namola app – a distance that is equivalent to 327 times around the earth at the equator.
“We quietly launched the new features during lockdown and have been making subtle updates based on user feedback,” added Pete Matthaei, Namola CEO. “The new tools for family peace of mind have been extremely well adopted, highlighting the need for smarter, technology driven safety solutions that look after those who matter most to us, no matter where they are.”
“We have already had users request assistance for their loved ones who could not do so for themselves,” he added.
Alongside Family Sharing, the new updates also include a smart alert feature which sends users a push notification whenever a loved one arrives or leaves a location.
Users have complete control of who they share their location with and Namola advises users to only share their location with trusted loved ones. Namola Response Centre operators are unable to access a user’s location information unless given permission to, by requesting assistance using the SOS button in the app.
Namola is expected to launch a comprehensive community safety solution later in the year.
