Round 1 – Excelsior 250 (between Vryburg and Ganyesa, North West Province)
Competing in 10 different classes, over two categories namely PRODUCTION and SPECIALS, crews were eager to kick off their 2020 season with the best possible results in their quest for championship honours.
The Excelsior 250 served up a typical off-road route with a mix of sandy bits, tight and twisty sections and a few faster parts as well. A qualifying prologue of 84 kilometres awaited the teams in the morning, times set on this section determined the start positions and time gaps for the main race which started at midday, consisting of a further two loops of the 84km qualifying prologue, making the total race distance a gruelling 252 km.
As has become the norm in this racing series, the action was fast and hectic in the dusty conditions.
