Will the driver of the towing vehicle (LDV) be required to have a PRDP when transporting aviation fuel?

Question:

We have recently purchased a 900-litre fuel bowser (aviation Fuel.) Will the driver of the towing vehicle (LDV) be required to have a PRDP?

Answer:

Yes, if the drawing vehicle has a GVM exceeding 3 500 kg. If the fuel is covered under UN 1203 there is a 500 l exemption in place and for a 1202 substance a 1000 l exemption.

The driver who transport dangerous goods in a goods vehicle with a GVM of up to 3 500 kg the driver does not require a PRDP but the vehicle still needs placarding, OP cards, etc. If the vehicle’s GVM is more than 3 500 kg the driver needs a PRDP.
