I would like to check on what my demerit points history is..please advise on how I can do this?
Answer:
This serves as a quick note to inform you that the points-demerit system (Section 24 of the AARTO Act) is NOT yet in force and therefore, it is unlikely that you will be able to check your demerit points history.
This having been said, I am aware that the RTIA is indeed using the National Contraventions Register to record demerit points against the driving licenses of infringers – FOR STATISTICAL PURPOSES – so they may be able to assist you. You can contact them through their website at www.rtia.co.za.
PLEASE NOTE: that even if the RTIA are indeed using the NCR to record demerit points for statistical purposes, these will be zeroed immediately on the implementation of the points demerit system.
