Crime has a significant impact on road safety in South Africa! We discussed this in quite some detail on the Arrive Alive website. Crime is an ever evolving threat and we need to remain alert to the newest techniques and strategies used by criminals and alert road users to those strategies.
As proudly South African citizens we tend to have a sense of caring and many of us have stopped at the side of the road to remove an obstruction that may endanger the lives of others still to travel that road. This should however be approached very cautiously and not be done when driving alone or in an area where you cannot be 100% convinced that there are no criminals lurking next to the road.
We should also be very cautious of not merely driving over objects we assume not to pose a significant threat!
